I have always loved orange/kinnow cakes. And in this hot weather what better than a orange cake with cold cream
This recipe contains no butter/oil. And yet so moist and delicious
|KINNOW/ORANGES||450-550g or about 3 oranges (medium sized)|
|A.P Flour||185g / 1cup+1/2cup|
|Eggs||5 whole eggs|
Start with boiling oranges in a pot of water for two hours, at medium to low flame. This is done so that…
- the skin of oranges can be easily peeled out
- to make a puree
Oranges should have become soft, peel it out and remove the seeds. be careful as its hot. Once done puree it and leave it aside
Mix eggs and sugar until well combined for 3-4mins, then add in the orange pulp and mix well. After that start adding your sifted flour, baking powder and salt in batches.
Once done, dust your baking tin with some flour and butter. Bake at 350°F/180°C (fan) for 30-35 mins.
This recipe is good for a 9 inch tin, but if you are using a 6 or 7, then half the recipe. do try this recipe and let me know how it turned out.
THINGS TO REMEMBER WHILE BAKING A CAKE
- All your ingredients should be at room temperature
- Don’t overmix the batter once you have added the flour
- It’s important to sift the dry ingredients
- Don’t fill your tin more than 3/4th of its height
